Nine Arch Bridge Trail, Sri Lanka

How to get there: Nine Arch Bridge
Hiking Time: 1 hour (roundtrip)

Starting point: Get to Ella's town. The police stop post or checkpoint is where the hike begins. You can double check your route with the friendly policemen in the post.

A famous bridge in Sri Lanka located in between Ella and Demodara railway stations. It was short hike to the bridge, like a stroll in the mall and of course there's no signs going to the bridge. You just have to show your charisma and your pearly white teeth to the locals to show you the way.

Take your charisma out of your pocket, show your pearly white teeth and ask a local for directions.

Guess which road to take?!

Once you find a house with long 6 long post built as its foundation on the cliff side of the road just keep walking straight and pray for their safety. The next house you will find will seemed like a dead end because there will be no more flat road for the trail. Don't panic your on the right track. The only way around is to get down. There will be root stairs guiding you down, careful keep walking down, walk straight and eventually you will find the Nine Arch Bridge.

The Nine Arch Bridge looked nostalgic with its ash color and location. The massive bridge is built entirely with solid rocks, bricks and cement without using a single piece of steel in its structure. An amazing piece of art standing in the mountain area of Sri Lanka. We were lucky as usual the train was scheduled to arrived that time maybe that was around 5 or 5:30 in the afternoon. The blue train honked its horn, as locals and tourist smiled and waved goodbye at each other.
