 The Enchanting Panglao Island

Ferry ticket: 800-1,000 php

Travel time: 1.5-2 hours

Panglao Island, located at the southwest part of Bohol just a few minutes away from Tagbilaran City, the capital city of the province. It's one of the most beautiful beaches here in the Philippines. It's my fourth time to be there and I can say that its natural beauty remains splendid.

My first time here was during our high school immersion; instead of having the usual promo night the Nuns decided to have a more memorable experience. We stayed overnight at a remote community, the next day had our tour around Bohol and our last stop was at Panglao Island. However, we had a rough ride going back to Cebu there was a sudden storm so I guess we're the first and last batch that had that activity-lucky me! My second trip was with my friends where we conducted our cultural mapping. Third time was spent with my co-workers at work during our team building.

We stayed at Dumaluan Beach Resort 2 located at Bolod, Bohol; you'll have more privacy there compared to Dumaluan Beach Resort 1. Dumaluan 1 is most likely the public beach they have cottages if you just want to hang around. It just happens to be that we came there after New Year. The resort was fully booked, so next time it's better to be prepared. On the other hand I love the feeling of walk-in customers; you'll never know what's in store for you. I wasn't worried that much because I have this vibe that everything will go well. Our trip started with unexpected, exciting and happy twist; I don't believe our luck for our last day in the Island will fall apart.

The receptionist then said that one customer has just checked out and one cabin was available. My eyes sparkled for anticipation and my stomach growled for a tasty meal. All the rooms were taken so we had our very own small hut/nipa hut/bahay-kubo/Cabin which was perfect, plus the guy gave us a discount! My charm was still working on full force ^__^. In addition we came there almost around dinner time so you can see we were really testing our luck.

We had a delicious dinner in the resort's restaurant situated right in front of the beach.
( Food Ranges from 200-500 php)

We talked about our ride going to the resort when we had our dinner, its best I share this with everyone to avoid being tricked in the province. People would always take advantage of tourist so better keep the heads up. After we went to Danao Adventure Park the van parked at DaO Terminal, we weren't able to convince him for a cheaper ride to Panglao; he offered 1200 php, which is hilariously too much. The van was owned by an agency so tourist price was given.
There are actually jeepney's and tricycle rides which can take you to the Panglao however, considering that it was getting dark it was also harder to get some vehicles. We managed a tricycle ride for 2 persons at a price of 250 php which is not bad, so we took 2 vehicles and off we go. There are actually three roads that leads to our destination, the driver thought it was our first time in the island, so he took the road less traveled for tourist it was a bumpy and torture ride.

It took almost an hour and when we arrived in the resort he asked for another additional 50 php for the ride- a deal is a deal! It was frustrating to know they're trying to trick us plus we were becoming starving lions because it was past our dinner time. I will never make the same mistake again so when we head home I'd made sure to book a van from the resort to the ferry terminal. The van from the resort cost around 700 php and you can even ask for a 15 minutes stop over to buy souvenirs.

Panglao is such a beautiful place and with it's beauty even bad tricycle rides can be forgiven. I am truly enchanted with the island and I will be back for more.
